Recombinant Human Vimentin Source:
Expressed in E. coli. DNA sequence encoding human Vimentin (amino
acid residues 1 466; Accession # X56134) was fused with a His
tag at the N-terminus.
Description:
Human Vimentin (53.7 kDa) is class III intermediate filament
protein, which belongs to the intermediate filament family. It
is highly expressed in the cells of mesenchymal origin.
Mesenchyme later differentiates into other types of structures
and systems: blood cells, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells,
circulatory system, lymphatic system. Vimentin has been used as
a specific mesenchymal marker in differential diagnosis of
undifferentiated neoplasms. Vimentin is widely distributed in
the cytoplasm and is phosphorylated by several protein kinases
in vitro.
